Wrote last night about a hidden battle I’m fighting
-
Mindfield
It’s a constant uphill battle,
And I’m addled by this war.
But I’ll stay astride my saddle
And I’ll fight it to its core.
It’s a struggle for survival.
It’s a war daren’t lose.
And I won’t! I’ll stay alive! All
Demons dare me? I’ll refuse.
No, I don’t know why He’s done it,
And I cannot see His plans,
But I’ll fight it ’til I’ve won it
From my perch inside His Hands.

Beautiful! I feel so empowered from this poem. Thank you!

I really like this piece. The juxtaposition of the upbeat rhythm and the serious content makes it even more powerful. Which is what emunah is all about – finding the good in the unknown and knowing Hashem is holding us throughout the journey.
Hatzlacha raba.

Oops. Sixth line should have read “It’s a war I daren’t lose.”

Wow Brocha!
This is a real masterpiece:)
Love that it can be used for any and every battle that one struggles with…
Thanks for sharing!

Bracha, every one of your poems hits me in all the right places! I love how they are so individual, yet so universal at the same time, if you know what I mean. Your mastery at rhythm and rhyme makes it so easy and enjoyable to read what you write. The best part is that in every challenge, you manage to bring out a message of courage and inspiration. And I love the play on words you used for the title! So powerful.

Love the poem! Reminds me a bit of something I wrote a while ago that was published in Twirl.
Fighting for Life
I’m a patriotic citizen
I pledge my loyalty
To one Capitol of Life
The State of Reality
There’s a national flag of pride
That flutters inwardly
In time to the anthem
Of beating vitality
I’m drafted in for duty
Join the Corps of love and hope
Fending off dark invaders
Giving courage to cope
The battlefield of my soul
Is witness to destruction
Spilled blood and sweat and tears
Hate and evil corruption
On faded khaki cloth
I may deserve to wear
A virtual badge of honor
For bravery of which none hear
