Welcome, Translators!
-
You may not know this about me, but I do a lot of translating work. The first books I translated were part of the Adventures with Rebbe Mendel series for kids and I am currently working on translating a Holocaust memoir and a book for very young children.
This forum is a great place to ask your translating questions, so feel free to post here if you want to learn more about translating or if you’re already working as a translator and you have any kind of issue you want to get clarity on.
Translating is its own specialty. I find that in order to be a really great translator and get that fluid, flawless “Born in the USA” look and feel (as opposed to, “OMG, this book is FOR SURE a translation!”), you need to be a writer.
Let’s hear from other translators on Masterpiece!

I would love to translate Hebrew-English and feel I could do a good job.
When I read badly translated books to my kids it makes my hair stand on end! I often end up re translating them.
If I want to take this up, would anyone know how I can get a foot in the door?
thanks in advance,
