Song of the Night

Kumi Roni B’Layla…

Come, let us sing to Hashem in the night

This is my song

The winds of the darkest hour

Pluck the chords of my harp

Playing their sweet melody

This is my song

The song of struggle

And triumph

Of falling, bruising

Of getting back up

This is a song

Not a linear line

But a circle in time

A circle that rises

The notes higher yet

As the struggle awakens

The chords of my soul

This is where my song lies

My chords stroked by the winds of the darkest hour

Searching

For the spark of light

A search only the darkest hour can ignite

And when I find it

There lies my song

For to see the sparks by day

Anyone can do

But to find sparks in darkness…

Only those who get up at the darkest hour

and sing…

Kumi Roni B’Layala…

Here lies my song

Beautiful and sweet

To overcome the darkness

With my harp

With my sweet melody

And then I shall rejoice in the dawn

For it is mine

To keep
