Covid-19 is slowly creeping back (at least in my community). Camps are closing down one by one, and schools will probably be remote. All my plans for this coming year are now totally up in the air. I sometimes feel like every other word in my brain is “corona.” I wrote this to give myself a little chizuk…

Read it forwards – and then backwards 🙂

    In my life

    The only thing

    The corona virus

    Don’t tell me

    There is normal life

    With this virus

    And that

    Happiness is still around

    Hashem is there

    There’s so much craziness

    It’s so hard

    The corona virus

    It’s horrible

    I think

    Life’s crumbling

    And don’t tell me

    Light and love exist

    Because right now

    I’m drowned completely

    It’s not like

    There is hope

    During these difficult weeks

    The only things that exist

    In this time

    And don’t tell me

    The corona virus

    Is not

    My life

    Wow Meira!!

That takes some talent!! I love the message and the idea is so cool!

You should have this submitted somewhere…

Wow! Stunning! So moving. In life sometimes we feel we have to go so far to become our best selves but when we realize that our weakness is also our strength, salvation is very close…that’s what this poem reminds me of…

Brilliant! How long did it take you to work this all out?

Thank you Chagit, Jane, and Elisheva!

HappiWriter – It took me about fifteen minutes …. Starting off is the hardest, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy. You just have to work forwards and backwards at the same time 🙂

    Wow, Meira.

Sheer talent. The rhythm is so in sync with that dull ‘corona’ throb in your head…

Meira, that’s some poem! 15 min is incredibly short for such a poem; I’m thoroughly impressed.

Meira, reverse poems are my favorite!  You make it look so easy.  The anticipatory feeling while reading the poem forward is a great hook for sticking it out and re-reading the poem backward.  And then forward again.  And back.  And get lost somewhere in the middle because the words are just so pretty.  And meaningful.

*stops right there because Shabbos is coming and I can’t rant all day*

Very cool. I have to try a reverse poem some time. But not just cool for the form but the content too.

Wow! This is so interesting. It got me thinking how in life we can take a situation and with the right attitude turn everything around.
