There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That hums and sings a lilting tune
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That dances in the shadows of the moon
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That whispers of hope, triumph and light
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That enables and propels us to fight
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That illuminates the darkest of places
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That reflects on everyone’s faces
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That hints at ideas that are lofty and deep
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That begs us its heritage to keep
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
And as I ponder what the something may be
I look at the candles and take in the sight
And realize the something I see
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
It’s the flame that we have in our soul
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
It makes us feel so loved and whole
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
It’s there and I promise it’s real
There’s something about the Chanukah licht
That I can’t tell you, but you can feel

So sweet! I just started reading Why We Rejoice (a week late, I’m catching up) and your poem and the sefer seem to complement each other so beautifully.

This is gorgeous, Chagit! I love the rhythm; It’s the perfect “feel” for a poem about the Chanukah licht.

That last line- so true! What is that feeling? Trying to pin point it—is it hope? Faith?
