Adjust

    Just be patient.

    Just stop crying.

Just move on; it’s meant to be.

    Just replace it.

    Just keep trying.

But it’s not a “just” for me.

    Just don’t do it.

    Just please drop it.

    Just say no decisively.

    Just pull through it.

    Just – just stop it.

But it’s not a “just” for me.

    Just. Please listen.

    Comprehend me.

    Understand my road’s uphill.

    Just take this in,

    Hold, befriend me.

It won’t be a “just” to me.

Wow wow wow! I’m nodding my head along with all those “justs”!

Sometimes people just don’t realize that they’re ‘justs’ are hurtful and it doesn’t work. Empathy is so so important and is so so so healing.

Oops! Mistake! This way doesn’t rhyme and that is blasphemous 😂. Here’s the correct version:

    Adjust

    Just be patient.

    Just stop crying.

Just move on; it’s meant to be.

    Just replace it.

    Just keep trying.

But it’s not a “just” for me.

    Just don’t do it.

    Just please drop it.

    Just say no decisively.

    Just pull through it.

    Just – just stop it.

But it’s not a “just” for me.

    Just. Please listen.

    Comprehend me.

    Understand my road’s uphill.

    Just take this in,

    Hold, befriend me.

Not a “just” and dearer still.

Brocha, this is talent plus! The title, the rhymes, the pattern, the rhythm, word choice, and the content!

Wow! This poem opened up a waterfall of emotions for me! The only one who has permission to talk this way is the person going through the difficulties if and when they’re up to it. Nobody else. The ability for such strong self-talk is considerably weakened when others offer words such as described in the poem. It is only with support and trust that the person will rise above their challenges, that s/he actually does.

I didn’t comment on this poem yet? Or I did, and it got lost? Brocha, I practically know it by heart already (as I’m sure you do;), I keep coming back to read it. It really resonated with me, and each time I reread it, I feel like I’m connecting with a kindred spirit 😉.

I feel this poem on so many levels. You really got to the root of it. I love the last line, it’s so eloquently put. Awesome job!
