The Gift of the Present

Ouch. @Chayala , the pain is so tangible. So real.

I love the rawness. Please, keep it this way…

Tell me, what do smiles look like on faces?

<b style=”font-style: italic;”>Is there peace in reality? – I had to read these lines twice to appreciate its startling creativity!

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Woh. @shaindy-c , this piece is a PIECE!

Ouch. The intense pain, confusion, and loneliness is too sharp.

<b style=”font-style: italic;”> “I find that at times, anger is a fierce, protective expression of a different emotion that festers inside, an emotion that you may not even be aware of.”

    – So true. I love how you brought out this exact point in…

@Dassi , I’m tearing up. I can so, so relate. Especially to these lines:

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>In a storm of tears and vehement words

    I discover the hurt

    Hiding and small

    Like a bullied child

Crouched in the corner of my heart

    Wounded and trembling silently

Thank you so much for sharing!

    Alive

Just last Sunday, proud as punch

I went to pick a flower bunch

One was yellow, one was green

The third was something in between

I bunched them all safe in my skirt

And ran in looking pinky pert

They were the brightest nicest lot

They didn’t fade and didn’t rot

And if I tried to really try

I could smell sun and bright blue sky

    I nev…

Just adding on here to the convo about anger…Always Write and Ella brought out very true points. Really, e/b has s/t else that makes them tick. I find that at times, anger is a fierce, protective expression of a different emotion that festers inside, an emotion that you may not even be aware of.

I am going to take the guts to share a poem that I…

The hot, mid-afternoon sun is enveloping me in her gentle embrace. The great, vast ocean stretches endlessly before me. It appears as if water is in fact billions of precious little diamonds, gracefully catching the sunlight and floating along the surface of the ocean. The hot sand is tickling my feet, creating a soft blanket beneath me. The sound…

Reply to Masterpiece Magic: It's a TENSE Topic!

I write my memoires in narrative form. Then I write the story. I am transported back to the incident and time that I am writing about. I noticed that I use the present tense. At times, I do feel the tension. It’s something that happened in the past, yet I am telling it as if I am actually there. Thank you for the clarification.

Thanks for lending your light on this topic.

So either you express it in a healthy way (journaling, acknowledging your anger and validating it, therapy, outlets, etc), or it will be expressed in an unhealthy way (outbursts, critisizing others, not being the you you want to be, etc.). Maybe our job is to make…

As for expressing your anger to others, we learned you’re allowed to vent. It’s a human need. Don’t go around telling the world how angry you are, but you can tell one or two people, until you feel like you got it out.

When I said you should express your anger when you’re calm I meant that you should express the feeling that made you angry, to the other person. For example, if you’re angry because someone said she was going to show up for something, and she didn’t, I think it’s important to let her know how it made you feel. Like, “I was really hoping you would…

Wow! So beautiful. Love the mashal with the jar.

The way I see it is that anger will sit inside you until it festers and explodes like you said. So either you express it in a healthy way (journaling, acknowledging your anger and validating it, therapy, outlets, etc), or it will be expressed in an unhealthy way (outbursts, critisizing others, not…

    Nice points, @always-write !

Regarding the meaning of this poem, I’m specifically emphasizing that because my inner anger wasn’t ever expressed, therefore it festered and exploded.

There are a five stages of healing from any kind of grief, and one is clearly the expression of anger (obviously in an assertive, non-agressive manor.)

    You mentioned that…

I don’t remember learning this Ramban specifically, but I do remember this: When it says that anger is never good, it is talking about the internal, bubbling-up-inside kind of anger. There are times though, where anger should be used. (used, not felt.) If its for chinuch reasons, and you need to teach a child that what he did was wrong, it is the…
